I just thought we could share our thoughts on the new Beatles remasters released yesterday. I picked up Abbey Road today (I ordered the Mono boxset, but I won't be shipped 'till october

) and I decided to compare the new release with my Dr. Ebbetts version.

Comparing the first track, Come Together, it was quite apparent that the remaster was cleaner and more detailed with analytical highs and tight, controlled lows. But, the Ebbetts release was much warmer and vinyle-esqe (well, his releases are needledrops

) and I found that mostly absent from the new release.

The rest of the tracks followed the same basic path.
I found I prefer the remastered Here Comes The Sun, but the Ebbetts Sun King.

Anyways, those are my impressions.

Oh and I was using my Grado SR225i's to compare the two versions.

I feel these new remasters completely kill the Ebbetts versions. I am not a big fan of the sound of Ebbetts as I find them to be rather harsh. Most people on here could make a better sound needledrop with the same source. However, I do appreciate the wealth of material Ebbetts has released.

I find these remasters to be cleaner, fuller and more detailed than all previous versions I have heard.
