LOL! I wonder how many of those who voted for the Orpheus have actually heard them?

Somehow I don't think the Beyers or ATs would get any votes. I mean, if you won the lottery and had millions to spend, who in the world would pass up on an Orpheus? Not I for sure. With a blank check to spend I would go for the Big O without a second thought.

The Stax Omega II would run a close second, but only with a Weebl running them.

I voted HP-1's. And I have heard the R10's and the Orpheus.

I'd like to hear the Stax, though.

And I own a pair of W2002's. I'm listening to them right now, as a matter of fact.

omega 2 > orpheus

stax omega 2 is the best electrostatic headphone while the grado hp-1 is the best dynamic headphone.

just my opinion of course, but i have heard everyone of the headphones in this list.. though i am sure this does not solidify my findings as concrete.

A little OT, but did you get your amp from Denis??? I was hoping you'd post a little, or PM, a little insight into how you like the Omega and KGSS.

I've auditioned the orpheus headphone in my [older] system (cary 303/200 -> cardas neutral refs/zcable live v4 -> weebl -> he90) for two weeks about a month ago. short impression: a flashy toy made to impress people at tradeshows. I might get around to posting something more detailed if I ever have the patience to polish my thoughts.

Now THAT will be one post I would love to read. I have not heard of anyone doing an A/B of the Stax Omegas against the Big O, so I would really appreciate any info you want to post there zzz.

I voted K-1000 because although I would probably find one or more of the other models better, I have only heard of these choices the DT880 or K-1000 and thus must choose accordingly.

The K-1000 images better than any headphone I have heard, has a clear sound, well balanced, lacking slightly in bottom end and in high end finesse but extremely neutral, clean and clear overall. Perhaps more forward than my HD-600 with excellent soundstaging on top of it all.

Did not directly compare with DT880, but the characteristics of the K1000 are so unique that I remember them clearly.

The HD600 is still my favorite headphone for all around listening and seems to produce the most realistic organic detailed natural sound of anything I have heard short of super high end speakers and realism itself.

Cheers,
Geek

the chad has heard them all (although the chad admits he hasn't heard them all extensively), and the vote still goes to the orpheus. the omega 2 didn't mesh too well with the chad's ears. hp-1 gets the vote as the best dynamic can followed by the r10.

Why? It's a myth that "more expensive" == "better".
