I have the Go-Vibe V5 right now, and my portable phones are iM716 and Shure E4g (haven't done comparisons yet to decide which to keep, or to keep both). In a normal setting the bass is good, but I'll be using them on airplanes and my right ear has some bass hearing loss due to some things that happened when I was younger so I need a little more emphasis on bass.
Would the V6 be a noticable improvement in bass, or should I turn elsewhere?
Some other amps I've been eyeing are the C&C, iBasso, Xenos, and MiniBox offerings in this price range. The cheaper the better, but not at a loss of sound quality. Bass quality+quantity and treble un-harshness are probably the most important qualities I'm looking for.

the hd650 must sound heavenly to you.

Anyway, you should try something like a Lisa-II with bass boost. Ask someone around the DIY section to build you one

I used to have the GoVibe 5, I switched to the T&D Dreamwork XTRA X-1 (in the same price range as the govibe), because I prefer the bass on this amp. To me the GoVibe was too sharp, fatiguing and not bassy enough. I recommend the xtra x-1.

ps. with both amps I used Ultrasone 750's.

Yes, the dreamworks x-1 is a very bassy amp, it provides a sort of "tubey" sound and in my experience goes well with the k501.
But it's very picky and is an aquired taste so test before you buy.

I'd recommend the Crossroads 1 or the Pa2v2 both of which falls in your budget. The c&c is another alternative, but i havent tried it yet.

The Go-Vibe V 6 has significantly better bass than the V5, and should do the job for you.
