I am looking to buy a new pair of headphones because I found my current headphones to be disappointing in terms of bass. I listen to a lot of hip-hop, house/electro, and rock. My range is probably around 200-300 but I could probly find an extra 50 bucks if there are a perfect pair of headphones. I dont want a muddled pair of headphones, so highs and mids are still important, I just would like some extra kick to my bass that my current headphones are not providing. Thanks Rcoops

If bass is what you're after, save your money. Get the XB500 and eq them to your satisfaction. $50 gets you all the bass you can possibly ever want. Won't even need an amp. Bonus: The comfort level is pretty much an 11 out of a 10.

You should get the HFI 580. The bass quantity and impact are pretty good, and it doesn't sacrifice the mid-range as much as some of the other contenders (XB series, PRO700MK2).

Hey! I just suggested to another Head-Fi-er that he get the Sony XB1000's for Electronic/ House music. At the price range of 200-300, it would be my very first choice of headphone for a more bass oriented music experience. Definitely check them out. And, if you maage to find a good used pair for around 200, you can still buy yourself a good amp (FiiO E7 or something like that) and still be under your 300 dollar maximum. A good amp should maximize the performance of the headphones. Hope this helped. Good luck finding yourself a good set of bass heavy cans.
