Hey guys, recently got a Beyerdynamic Amiron Home.

Really enjoyed its soundstage, details and control, and especially its air. Just would like a lusher and bassier sound. What are your recommendations?

I just got a pair of Amirons. They're most often compared with HD600, HD650's - both excellent. I have the HD600 and to me the Byerdynamics have a better soundstage and tighter base. Ken Rockwells reviews (a good website) says they are best headphones outside of electrostatics.

Which electrostatics are they say they are meaning?

I have a pair of Amiron Home headphones. I found that the head amp makes a big difference. I drove them through an iFi iDSD Nano BL first and the sound was good, but lacked weight. I then used a Topping D50 DAC with an Arcam rHead head amp and the sound has improved a lot. It's like honey now! Really sweet, deep and silky smooth. The head amp has considerable power to drive these headphones. There's an effortlessness to the sound, combined with solidity and weight. At the moment, I cannot imagine the sound improving without spending thousands more.

I was wondering that too. I bought and retrned an 880, thinking the Amiron was basically the 1770 and 1990 version of the 880. However, it lacks the airiness of the 880. They seemed to have a broader sound to them than the Amiron does. I also got the IFi nano to drive them, paired with a note 9 and power amp playing flac files. For a $750 overall investment, I'm a bit disappointed. They don't sound much better than my xm3's. I'll do see more a/b, but I was hoping for more. Maybe because I'm a but of a basshead.
