Bass restoration accessory?

Was just intrigued by this product while browsing for iPod cases. Future Shop: iPod & MP3 Players: Apple iPod Accessories: Re-Q5 Volume Sensing Bass Restoration With OEM
It just felt totally out of place in a store like Futureshop (Canadian version of Best Buy) and I can't find any information on it. Anyone know anything about it?

It actually seems to be a car audio thing.
