ah, the Monsters of Goth tour.. I missed that one too, though it was summer of '89 I'm almost positive..

My big concert that summer was Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers with the Replacements opening. Most people did not seem to "get" the Replacements. Very odd choice. Of course, I went MAINLY because of the Replacements, but Tom was great too.

Oh yeah, '89! I guess I'm thinking of the summer of '87 because I remember everyone O.D.ing on New Order Substance/Depeche Mode 101 and Erasure's The Innocents, with The Smiths' Louder than Bombs on the side, plus OMD's Greatest Hits and the Pet Shop Boys' Introspective. That was a fun summer!

Add to that the bitter rival with Van Halen and youve got some sparks.

Miles
Coltrane
Jane's Addiction in their prime (although I was blown away by them in '97, so maybe they don't belong on this list).

Besides that there's only really one rock band that I'd kill to see, and that's The Clash. If only I'd had better taste in music when I was three.

Did the Beatles play very many shows, after their early period? I'd kind of thought they sort of had to almost go into hiding or something. Not being up on these things I could be very wrong.

I had tickets to Radiohead but their concert was cancelled due to the blackout on the East Coast a few summers ago. I guess they may tour again yet, but with them it's hard to say. The direction they're headed in doesn't seem well-suited to live performance.
