A little bit out in left field but still music related.....

Some buddies and I are forming a band that does quite a bit of electronica; some of our own but also a fair bit of covers.

Covered bands and influences include:
Massive Attack/Tricky
Jesus and Mary Chain
My Bloody Valentine
Meat Beat Manifesto.

Anyway, my idea for the band name is "The Inertia Creeps".

Massive Attack fans will get the obvious reference, but the band is split over then name if they don't get the reference. I obviously think it's a great name.

So.....

As a verb, its a great band name. As a noun, its terrible.

Yes i've been playing with that too. Thought about dropping "the" and it's definitely intended as a verb

The name comes from a Massive Attack song of the same name. Great song too.

I think I will drop the "the" from the name and just call ourselves Inertia Creeps

If I heard that name, I would instantly think "Wow, they ripped off the name of a Massive Attack song...."

Not saying everyone would think that, I'm just offering an honest opinion.

Other than that, cool name.

I'm pretty sure and Massive Attack connotations would be positive. Many bands do that. After all 'Radio Head' is merely a Talking Heads song.

Minus the 'The' i think its a good band name.

Well, "The Inertia Creeps" is a better name than "Roast Beef Deodarant," but the name sorta creeps me out. Why not call your band, "Inertia" or "The Inertia" or "Massive Inertia"? Good luck with the name.
