A pair of AVVT 300B maybe is a better choice, and you'll save $1700!
WE 300B sold for $1000 a couple of months back.
Somebody listed a single TS BGRP for $400 not long ago.

Kingstyles I recommend the Brimar 6SN7GTY, Mullard ECC33 or TS BGRP so far.
I have a feeling you'll like the ECC33 the best.
Also am exploring the possibility to use the underrated but wonderful 6SU7s.
With the BA plate voltage been less than 230V they maybe a viable alternative.

Does anyone have a set of WE 300b, that they are using in a balancing Act? I am thinking re issue WE 300b. I just wanted to know how they compare with other 300b and the KR PX4

I would  hope you like them.

Mark these are black base, I personally prefer the brown micanol.
I don't know about the TS 50s.
But I am working on a couple more alternatives, just give me some time.

Yes, I'm running reissue 300Bs.  I've been running them for years in my Cary and now run them in the BA too.  I've tried EH, Kron, Full Music mesh and solid plate and Shuguang Treasures as well as the PX4.  The other 300Bs range from unexceptional to bad except for the Kron which has great transparency, directness, drive and extension at the frequency extremes and is far less euphonic than the Chinese tubes.  As an aside, the much vaunted PX4 is soft and bass shy and frankly sounds unexceptional to my ears in the BA.    But back to 300Bs.  In a world without the WE reissues lurking about used and NOS, the Kron would be my easy choice.  But while the WE has a bit less drive and authority on the bottom than the Kron, it's got a lot more going on there than the PX4 and counters with a magical midrange that simply blows every other tube mentioned here away in terms of vocal reproduction.  It also has a sense of tonal color and life that none of the current production 300Bs even begin to hint at - especially the Chinese tubes.  I'm glad I bought 3 pair of the WEs over the years.  Another nice thing - the WEs are bulletproof.  My original pair was bought years ago during the original production run when they came in the fancy wood box.  The things still test stronger than any of the brand new Chinese 300Bs I have in house.  They last damn near forever....

Hi Joe,
The original WE 300B purchased at a sensible price are unbeatable.
But paying over $2000 for a pair of recent re-issues is not the best value for money IMHO.
BTW what make are your PX4's?

You can pick up a matched pair of WE 300b on e bay for $1200.00 with the cool wooden box.

I've got the KR PX4s and just got a TSBRP.  Now I understand the hype surrounding this tube.  This is a phenomenal combination.

Agree KR PX4s and TS BGRP are a wonderful combination.
A better combination for my taste is the EAT 300Bs and TS BGRPs.
However there is a better driver and power tubes combination, hope to be able to try it by the end of November.

Hi Mark, I have seen them I assume it's week 52, year 72.
I was reading a thread yestrerday and they were discussing 300B's.
Somebody was saying that the WE re-issues sound nicer that the older ones!
