...That this is a single-sided phone with a 2-pronged Lemo connector + common ground.

How does this affect balanced operation, if I choose to have a balanced cable made up for the 010?

I think I've answered my own question and had it confirmed by antonik. Unless I replace the Lemo socket and rewire the phone, I guess it's not going to happen. Oh well. I'll have to look at it when it arrives.

If it's only a 2 pin Lemo (instead of 4 pin) that means that the common ground is being carried by the plug casing. Balanced rewiring aside, that's not too cool, actually it's a real dissapointment. So you've got signal flowing through two gold pins and one aluminum threaded ring... Wonder what the spectrum analysis & TDR model looks like on that?

How is the signal carried over to the opposite side driver? Visible wire or something buried in the frame?

what do you mean by that? I thought it had two wires going to each driver (each with its own socket) and was easily balancable.

No, no, no....IIRC the Qualia has double sided cable, not just a single, it inserts in both sides, with two lemo, connectors one on each side, they join in the center at about 1-1.5' with a nice aluminum piece that says Sony on it very nice BTW....
