Forgive me if this is a facepalm-worthy question, but I've never dealt with balanced in/out systems before (not to mention that a balanced amp is way out of my budget range at this point, but what the heck.)

If your source is connected to your amp via XLR, can you still use single-ended phones with the amp, or does the headphone output have to be balanced as well?

I have never seen an amp where the you need that to happen. If your amp has single ended outputs, it should get sound from both XLR or SE inputs.

The answer is that it can be both.

My Beta 22 has one balanced headphone out and 2 single ended headphone outs. You can listen to all three at once.

If it's wired correctly, shouldn't be a problem
