Well Carl, the more we bump this thread back to the top, the less likely it is someone will be able to buy these at a real-world price.

As it stands the auction doubled it's count within the last 12 hours, with a bunch of head-fi lunatics going overboard to get their hands on these. As much fun as head-fi is and as much valuable information as it provides, it sometimes bothers me how it drives prices for certain products. In 2001 someone could have snatched a pair of HP-2 for less than 500 dollars, nowadays even imperfect examples command prices in excess of 1200. Of course, this is all peanuts compared to some people here spending 5-digit sums on their headamp alone.

Then again, without head-fi we wouldn't find out about certain products in the first place. So it's a mixed bag.

wow, the price on this baby-o really jumped from a few hours ago. Its at almost $600!! And i thought i had a chance at this, i was going to give $700 max a go, but i guess that wont happen.

Ebay.de is always like that. Germans just seem to love to snipe. Last time I was bidding on something over there the price almost doubled in the last hour.
