100+ Head-Fier
So, I'm in the market for a pair of truly end-game IEMs. I would like for them to be open back so I can hear what is going on around me. I have a lot of experience with open back headphones and know this is what I want.
I need to actually be able to hear what is going on around me y'know. (Crazy right?)
However, in my discussions here I have found that many people consider open back IEMs to be worthless because they do not isolate you from the world.
This is counter-intuitive to me. Why would I want IEMs to isolate me? That sounds dangerous. Or worse, if I'm at work and someone calls my name I had better be able to hear them.
Now I am second guessing myself; is there something that I am overlooking? Why do all of these people seem to think that IEMs should be completely isolating?
