Hmmm - you suggest to keep X5 and just swap E12a for idsd to increase clarity? Would that be one way of ding it? In general though I'd prefer to upgrade the dap, not even use a amp(&dac) in the future as I never use headphones with the dap anyway (IEMs only). (Saying that - the E12a does add quality to the X5, especially for earphones)

If you connected the X5 to the idsd over digital yes it would be a significant upgrade imo.

However it is very much overkill for only iems. And I would class it as transportable.

I am sure there are options that would better fit your needs in smaller form factor using only iems.

:)

Sound wise however yes the idsd micro is a large step up (in my subjective opinion)

HI all,

Does anyone have a 4pin XLR to 2.5mm adaptor laying around that I can either buy or borrow for a week or so.

I have a few DAP coming in that has 2.5mm balanced and I have a balanced cable for my Ether C however unfortunately my cable is full sized balanced.  MIght be a little hard to plug into the dap :p

Thanks for reading :)

The list goes on, it's pretty insane ~ you're better off seeking out the better retailers over here in Oz to see who's willing to send stuff over from here with
reasonable freight (assuming it gets through customs A.OK)

I have a question, sorry if it is OOT. But how do you guys usually send/receive portable players (DAP, Amps) containing batteries overseas or from abroad? DHL couriers and postal services have all refuse unless the battery is removed.

i had no problems with australia post last year [ it's like sending an iphone - unless things have changed

perhaps it depends on the type of battery and who you get there as in what they know

there are morons out there - unless the law has changed
