I just wanted to show how the rocket jack doesn't go all the way in to my X5 with case pulled down:

Here is my custom cord jack which goes all the way into my X5

So what do you genius's think about that???LOL!!

All that means is that the Rocket jack is slightly longer to accommodate for systems that have a deeper plug.

Sorry, forgot to mention that the plug keeps loosening and I continuously lose a channel and have to keep pushing it in.   The Rocket plug doesn't fit the Fiios X5.

The Noble 4 and Sony 7550 plug fits and stays in with no problem on my X5.   Not only that, but I find the V in the Rocket cord too short for going around my ears without strangling me, plus touching the cord makes the sound of an avalanche in my ears.  I don't like hanging cords down.   I think the cord would be excellent for camping as extra strong line and for use as a Drs. stethescope cord, or better yet, between two cups so kids can talk to each other in the house, or better yet as a sports IEM cord which it is designed for, LOL!!!

But I believe the bottom line is that the Rockets were designed as a sports IEM, not a Headfi sound machine.   It just happens to sound exceptionally clear compared to their other lines most likely due to not having a bass driver and/or decreased bass in tuning, just like my AS2 sounded initially until Dale removed sound-deadening material around my tweeters, then I heard the highs, LOL!!

So I will either put up or shut up, splice another cord to the existing cord, or return them to Earphone Solutions for a refund then try to find an IEM that has similar SQ but has the comfort bells and whistles I like.   Currently I'm thinking of the FAD Heaven V unless you might have other suggestions????   Cheers,

Thanks for the suggestion Jobbing.   I did read about it, a bit higher than I want to go right now, plus don't comply tips have to be replaced frequently??   Just dropped $180 on the FAD Heaven V, but couldn't get AmazonJP to finish my order for $180 plus Tenso shipping for $200, so went with BuySmartJapan and now paying $20 tax and $20 for shipping for $219, so after shipping back my Rockets I broke even!!Ha!!

I have heard excellent things about the FAD from Muppetface and Vwinter and others.   I did break my rule, it doesn't have a detachable cable,  but no complaints about its cable/plugfit or comfort so we'll see.

Those are certainly interesting... I just don't have $300 to drop right now.

Just when I thought I couldn't love these IEM's more, I listened to Thomas Bergersen's Sun and was blown away by the level of clarity, detail, and the sheer quality of the instrumental and vocal playback.
