it is an awesome warranty -- 5 years free replacement (assuming you don't abuse them) and lifetime half price replacement.  From the tests I'd be surprised to see a lot of folks taking advantage of either though.

I use the Nest myself, as it is about the next best thing to the old Shure case. I trust it with my RE-600s... it's pretty tough, but as you say, it is rather open. I have had pennies and the like 'come along for the ride,' so to speak, and it does worry me from time to time, but so far I haven't had any actual trouble come of it. The 'compartment,' for lack of a better word, is fairly large, and there are six (I think - maybe eight) openings for the cord to come out onto the winder. These openings are two different sizes, all in all it's pretty compatible and easy to get things in the way you want them. Much easier to get the TRRS -> TRS adaptor for the RE-600 into the Nest than the Shure case, that's certain! Anyway... it is somewhat open, so it's worth it to be mindful of the environment you're tossing it into, but if that is unlikely to pose a problem, I do think it's a great product.

Good to know that exists, at least... I looked long and hard maybe half a year ago for something comparable, and only really came up with the Nest.
 
As for a huge case being overkill on the Rockets - this is why I, personally, have no interest in the pledge level that includes the (relatively speaking, here) massive Pelican type case...

It may be easier (and more practical) to find a small round food container that fits the Nest. Something like this or that.
