I was really nervous before mine arrived, I would always think what if it doesn't sound that much better? what happens if i don't like the sound? And especially after hearing from a few others that it can sound bad until it hits burn in (100-200 hours but 500 for optimal as stated in the manual) but i opened this box 4 hours ago and haven't left my chair since. My afternoon became re listening to how amazing all my favorites now sounded and how much more i can heap all the separation and layers in the music. Its simply amazing and its only going to get better!

Im also glued to my chair now. I got 0,000001ms time to take my headphones off and take a picture

Just dont want to take them off. Im loving it

Sorry to revive an old post but I see there's not much here about the Gemini.

I recently bought this unusual product for my wife to use in her office with a pair of Beyerdynamic T1s which she since 'acquired' from me. I've had a couple of short sessions. Like project86 I didn't have high expectations. And like project86 I am very pleasantly surprised.

It's transparent and detailed. The T1's tendency to sibilance is laid bare if volume is too high. Which is easy to do - it sounds very tuneful, lively and dynamic. (I reterminated the T1 for balanced so haven't tried the 1/4" jack which John found compressed).

I don't own any other Auralic products nor do I plan to, but on this evidence I can hear this is a superb designer/manufacturer. The Gemini really is good and has a lot of 'cool' factor going for it too.

For those interested, my review of the AURALiC Gemini 2000 is posted HERE. Color me impressed (and surprised!)

Just added a PS Audio perfectwave MKII to my  Auralic Taurus MKII.  It's connected coax to coax w/my Teac SACD/CD 2000 w/xlr balanced HD800 = OMG !

The soundstage and detail of the HD800 + the neutral dark background & large & deep (as in depth) soundstage & very detailed, transient sound of the Taurus MKII and add to the mixture this magnificent neutral, expansive, detailed DAC and the sound is "end game."  That's all I can say, I'm totally blown away.  There's nothing muddy or grainy even when there are many sounds, instruments playing simultaneously and they're all balanced (bass, highs, lows, mids) and separate, clear, no roll off, no sibilance and so many sounds (depending on what one is listening to, in my case it's Beck, Midnite vultures) to keep track of it's surreal.

The best HP listening experience I've had so far.  I don't see myself spending any more money (I'm broke anyways

I had a listen to an Audeze LCD-3Fazor, Mr. Speakers Ether and JPS Labs Abyss through an Auralic Taurus Mk. II and was not really impressed. The sound had no "meat".

I asked if the salesman could swap out the Auralic for the GSX Mk II.  WOW what a difference........

This may have been a synergy problem between the amps and the DAC, but it seems hard to believe.

Of course, as usual YMMV.

Man, no meat? I can fathom that no sound is for everyone, but no meat and the Taurus seems very much like an outlier take on the sound.

Yeah something's weird there. I have that exact setup (Invicta Mirus plus Taurus) driving LCD-3F and other headphones (no Abyss or Ether at the moment though). It definitely has heft to it, or tonal richness, or whatever we want to call it. Even with less authoritative headphones like HD800 I still hear it. Maybe not quite as thick as my Violectric V281, but definitely not thin.

Not sure what could be going on to cause this.

Is the GS-X mkII you are reffering to?

Hey Guys,

Just out of interest can anyone on here comment on the improvement of the Taurus MK2 + Vega over Taurus MK2 + Gungnir?

I currently have the Gungnir, Taurus MKII and LCD 3f's. It sounds nearly perfect to my ears (still a relative noob) and struggle to believe it could better.

Have also just ordered a Silver Widow 22AWG toxic cable and am hoping that will provide the final refinement to my set up but my main question is will the vega make $3500.00 dollars of WOW factor over the Gungnir?

apologies for any grammar issues, i am intoxicated

Diminishing returns, only you can really say if the extra outlay is worth it to you. Come to the headphone meet in Auckland and September and compare for yourself!
