What about plugging it straight into the wall? Just to rule out everything. But no, haven't had that problem before.

I tried that without success. Switched out the power cord, rca & balanced interconnects, and tried no interconnects too.. Same result.

Bummer. I hope it's still under warrantee.

Brandon sounds like it is the switch itself, probably a simple fix for Auralic. Do they have a North American Service Center (or Centre)?

So many Vegas for sale on the second hand market atm. It's crazy.

What is everyone upgrading to, out of interest? :¬)

my vega dac quit on me my computer says usb device has malfunctioned i downloaded new drivers and still the same thing. i am using win 8 with jrivers 21?

yeah, i am done with Auralic. Customer service is severely lacking, and their equipment are not reliable. I sold my Taurus II and got a V281, and do not regret it one bit.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you wholeheartedly. If I recall you bought a used Taurus that had no warranty, wish has probably led to your opinion. But I believe Auralic build fantastic pieces of equipment, the Taurus to me is built to last and has the looks to match.

Enjoyed the V200 by Violectric for the brief session I had with it, and I'm sure the V281 holds its own.

It's hard to judge if they have good customer service or not since there isn't as much information as other companies at least in these forums. From my experience I've had no issue with the Taurus and I know a few Vega owners who are happy. There nothing that I see out there that warrants me not considering the Vega when I want to upgrade my dac.

I'd like to know what is your average listening volume level with the taurus: I can hardly go over  9/10 o'clock on mine (on both lcd3f and hd800).
Dac: GuMBy

Thanks!

I am using it with HE 500, the normal listening level is about 8-9 o clock.

Thank you for your reply, I don't know if it's just me but, I find peculiar having at least 80% of the volume pot unused.

Are you using balanced connections between the gumby and Taurus? I read that the balanced output from the gumby is 6bB higher than SE. So you may not need that much gain from the Taurus with high efficient phones.

If you use the Taurus to drive HE 6, you might find you often need to turn the volume to 2~3 o'clock.

With LCD-3f and HD800s I rarely if ever go above 10:00, both on the balanced out. Pretty much the same with the DT1770 and K7XX SE.
