Hi, I'm new to the hi-fi audio scene and have recently bought an ASUS Xonar DX soundcard for my computer. I'm using Astro A30 headset I bought last year at the moment, when I had done little research into the product. Now I want the most out of my audiocard and wanted to buy a good pair of headphones. These will be used primarily for gaming but also for some music as well. I was thinking the Audiotechinca AD700s but i've heard they don't have good bass response at all, which is something i want for good sounding gun blasts and explosions in games. I listen to a variety of music -- rock, blues, some classical and EDM and some alternative stuff. These headphones will be my go-to every day listening device for everything i do on my computer. I don't know if this is important, but i'll be using dolby virtual surround sound with them. My choice right now is split between the ATH-M50 and the GradoSR80i -- i like the SR80i's price but it seems it's not too good for gaming; the on-ear style doesn't appeal to me because these astros are on-ear and get uncomfortable after an hour or so of use. At the same time, the ATH-M50 is more expensive and i think uses vinyl, which i've heard makes your ears sweat, and i have a tendency to sweat; these cover my entire ear though so i think they would also be more comfortable. Knowing my needs, can anyone on here use their headphone knowledge to suggest which would suit my needs better? thanks in advance.
