Heya,

Before we spend your $900.... consider:

What do you listen to mostly?
Do you want open air? More sound stage?
Do you want closed back? Isolation and privacy?
Is this for strictly home use?
Any chance of going portable at all?
Does your budget include any new equipment (other DAC/AMP if necessary depending on what you choose)?
What sort of sound are you wanting? Bright? Dark? Bassy? Neutral?
Leather or velour pads preference?
Cable preference?
Headphone style preference?
Weight preference?

Until you answer all that, I'm just going to go and say "Hifiman HE-400" because I have a hunch.

Very best,

Thanks,

The use of Headphone  is only at home. I don´t need headphone amplifier. I don´t have preferences about styles, cable, pads, etc. I ask you in order to buy the best option

Considering all specifications, what is the best from the list ???

Thanks

Very best,

Please answer all of these not just a few. I  agree with the he-400 as it leaves room for a amp/dac which I personally think is a must have for many of the mid - hi fi gear... even if its just a decent one. it would really help the most if we knew the types of music you listen too.  Also do a little bit of research on open and closed to give us an idea on the sound you want. You say you will us it for home so I would say its an easy option to get a dac/amp for a decent price.

Heya,

For $900, I would look at (used/new prices):
You can get nearly all the flag ships for about your price if you go used.

Hifiman HE-500
Hifiman HE-400
LCD2
LCD1
Ultrasone Signature PRO
Beyer T1
Sennheiser HD800
Sennheiser HD700
Denon D7000
Kenwood KH-K1000
Fostex TH-900
Thunderpants T50RP
AudioTechnica W5000

There is no best. There are flavors. You need to sample a few to know what flavor you like best.

Very best,

Upgrade your source first, then headphones, then appropriate amp. You may think you don't need an amp, but the reality is, some of the headphones need amps to be driven to their potential. Keep an open mind to every experienced member contributing

The McPre will be suitable for plenty of dynamic headphones, and I'm assuming you have an equally competent source behind it, so if you go dynamic I would stick to that equipment. I like Mal's list, but I would add the Grado RS-1 (or GS-1000), and Koss ESP/950 to the list of potential candidates. There is no absolute best here, there is no "consumer reports tell me what to buy!" either - there is what works best for you, and what you preference. So what do you preference? What kind of sound do you like?

Actually seeing how you have the McPre, I am also assuming you have a good enough source. Like other members asked already, please tell us your tastes and we can gladly help.

Do you mean the Alessandro MS-Pro?

It's a slightly tweaked Grado RS-1i, but unfortunately has worse distribution (at least in the US). They cost the same as the RS-1i. :) This might be helpful: http://www.headfonia.com/grado-rs1-and-alessandro-ms-pro/
