Have you ever wondered why Sennheiser doesn't produce audiophile class closed back headphones? I have for a few days, and it took me 5 years to suddenly realise this. I think the 600-series is really demanding a believable closed back set. The 280 Pro doesn't do that job. It is clearly with different sound signature, in different (cheaper) price point and aimed for broadcast/studio use.
Beyerdynamic has the DT770, AKG has the HD272 / K271 MKII twins, Audio-Technica and Denon are both specialised on closed back headphones. Etc etc. You get the point.
Maybe we will see closed headies when eventually 600-series is replaced.
PS. I know Grado doesn't have closed headphones, but this has to do with their philosophy, and I think nobody is really expecting a small company like that to expand to the closed headphones market. Not in near future anyway.
