Here's the refreshment of Audio-Technicas open headphones line. These will be released in Japan on the 16th November and prices will be the same as the predecessors. Expect the street price in japan to come down quickly after the release.

UPDATE: yodobashi lists the AD2000x (preorder) for 64000 Yen (81000 Yen MSRP). You can expect even better deals after the release.

Interesting. Using google translate on the link seems to indicate that the 2000x is more balanced across the frequency spectrum while the 1000x has more prominent lower frequencies.

Great to see ATH finally coming out with revisions. With this and the ATH ESW-11 due out, I can definitely see myself purchasing one of their headphones in the nearish future.

Through Google translate, from what I can decipher is that they did new pads for the whole line. Something about making the 'flat' to fit the face more, but from the pictures it looks like it's slightly thicker towards the back of the ear. Also they seem to extend the 3D wings's arms a bit more. Maybe that could solve some people's problem with them sliding down their head?

Seeing the photo of the AD2000X, the lower assembly looks totally unchanged to me. Other than they don't seems to show the actual soldering to the drivers.
