Audio Technica the master of WOOD

After many, many pages of this amazing thread I seem to reconnect to my old love for my two AT woodies, the W5000 and W1000X. What I would very much appreciate would be advice on where to start researching alternative pads for both of them? The W1000X especially didn‘t connect with me because of its midrange. The W5000, a long time companion, always seems a bit bass shy and the driver touches my ears. As far as I understand the many experiences some of you have reported on, ZMF seems to be a good first step for pad rolling, right?
Thanks in advance for a quick pointer for me to continue my search (eBay is just horrible with all these cheap alternatives that I would not even try).

Surprisingly this rather cheap but well made thinner hybrid pads work best and are the main pads on my W1000Z. I've tried 2 other thicker pads.

That sure do like a more appropriate case than I have, I shall seek it. Congrats to yet another woodie acquisition!
Thanks! yeah... it is indeed a well conceived HP case from Jaben SG.

As the AWAS burns in, I am really enjoying it even more. I really appreciate the bass and the nice soundstage. I mainly listen to Chinese ACG and jazz vocals. :)

Has anyone heard the narukami headphones minus the crazy expensive amp?
I actually own the AWKG. I like it. It is pretty balanced. I listen mostly to vocal centric music. It is good with what I listen to. Yes, there are headphones with more detail, dynamics and other technicalities but I do not have ATH headphones for such qualities. But always more for simple pleasure on how they render vocals etc. :)
