I just hate the headband comfort of the ATH AWAS and how sensitive it is to putting extra cushion underneath it in terms of it not sounding as good when i do this. It sounds alittle off then and not as clean and detailed and vivid and loose some treble energy. Otherwise i would have been very happy with it. The other Hp seen here with the other Headbands looks comfier.

I have both the AWAS and AWKT and haven’t really had any issues with the headband, I do have long (very long) hair that cushions things out. What I do have issues with, because of my hair, are with their wing system bands, it tangles with my hair specially when re-adjusting and removing.I just hate the headband comfort of the ATH AWAS and how sensitive it is to putting extra cushion underneath it in terms of it not sounding as good when i do this. Its a dumb solution but using a hand towel as padding worked for me while I was still breaking in my AWKT, it has generally conformed to my head now and I am no longer using padding.I just hate the headband comfort of the ATH AWAS and how sensitive it is to putting extra cushion underneath it in terms of it not sounding as good when i do this. I have put an cotton sleeping eye mask underneath and also tried folded som soft papper. I think folding the papper changes the sound the least compared to not putting anything under but still not as good as no extra padding. But the eye mask is the most comfiest. My head gets sour after an hour if not putting anything under and i can feel it in my head the rest of the day if i use it for longer periods with nothing put under. Its a dumb solution but using a hand towel as padding worked for me while I was still breaking in my AWKT, it has generally conformed to my head now and I am no longer using padding.

I just got one of the ATH-WBLTD. Comfy, lightweight, and so pretty!
Sound is distinctly different from the Denon/Fostex I usually enjoy, but is quite nice and makes a good pairing for vocalists - I've been going through some old favorites from Sarah Brightman and Faye Wong today, the singers really stand out so pleasantly.
I need to try a few alternate cables, though. The stock cables are just a little too short and I prefer a braided cable over a smooth one
edits: I did get a different cable for them after all. Youkamoo makes some braided cables for a variety of headphones, including the connector that the newer ATH headphones have been using the past few years. I also got a little cloth cover for the headband - I wear headphones many hours per day and ever since my old Denon AH-D7000s started wearing down a bit on their headbands I figured I really oughtta just use some simple washable fabric covers for the headband to make the maintenance easier.
Overall, I am growing more and more impressed with this headphone over the weekend. At first listen, I was sure I preferred my Fostex TH900 over these, but i think that's changing. The Fostex have a deeper more powerful bass rumble, but the smooth sound of these ATH-WBLTD are really really growing on me. I'm a poor wordsmith when it comes to describing sound, but suffice to say i really enjoy them.
Further updates: Yes, I really enjoy these. they aren't bass cannons, they lack some of the denon/fostex subwoofer rumble, but its not like anything's actually absent, it is simply a matter of what is emphasized. The clarity and smoothness are fantastic and I can't complain about the sound at all. The comfort at first I thought was less than the Denon/Fostex style - but although the cups/pads are slightly more shallow, my ears still fit fine and even using them all day long has no issue at all.
if anyone wants to know, i've been listening to a lot of pop, edm, and some other varieties of music with these.

Looking at this thread make me regret to have sold a ATH-W10VTG in the past. Damn.
I still use my ATH-W10VTG from time to time. I mostly use it as a “transportable” headphone and use it with my DAP on the go. It’s really easy to drive and just very relaxing to listen to.
Circumstances may necessitate I part with my ATH-AWKG. If you have interest, DM me.
How would you described the sound of the AKWG? Also how would you compare midrange clarity to something like the D8000 Pro LE?Circumstances may necessitate I part with my ATH-AWKG. If you have interest, DM me.
Very clean midrange, non-fatiguing / polite treble, and articulate bass (not heaps of sub-bass rumble but some very good excursive dynamics in the low end more aligned with live instrumentation like a standup bass). I originally put the overall detail level at equal to a Verite Closed but with more listening time I'd rate it as higher detail than the VC but it is not at the same level as a D8000 Pro. The Final also exceeds the ATH in speed (generalized planar advantage over a dynamic), note weight, and bass response but the ATH wins in aesthetics and comfort and like I said the ATH is very polite in the treble which may be more suitable to longer listening sessions depending on the listener's treble sensitivities. How would you described the sound of the AKWG? Also how would you compare midrange clarity to something like the D8000 Pro LE?
Big shout out to @Uncle Wilson of Jaben Singapore for the ATH AWAS at a great price. I understand that the AWKT is also available. They will also be available at the Adelphi Show this weekend.
