Today I was putting on my AD2000's (which I probably do about 100 time a freakin day!) and one of the mg headbands broke. Boy, was I bummed. I love these headphones and the thought of being without them was killing me. I searched AT's website and found the US parts email address. I shot off a request for either the part or (if there was more to replacing it than I was thinking) instructions on where to send it. As many of you know, it's a model that isn't imported to the US so I was afraid that I might have to contact someone in Japan and send it there.
I sent that email just before making lunch and by the time I got done (20 min) there was a reply. It was Dave Webb who I'd had great service from before. Attached to his reply was a pdf of the AD2000 with an exploded view of every nook and cranny plus a parts list. This was great since I could see exactly what I needed to do to replace the part and a list in case I need any other bit in the years to come. But here's the kicker, he's sending me the part for free! No shipping charge, no nothing! I guess I shouldn't be surprised since about a year ago, my cleaning lady (I use the term loosely) lost the stylus guard on my AT OC9 phono cartridge and he had a new one in my hand in 3 days,.. free free free!
I had to post something about them since many of us have AT phones and they aren't exactly military grade.
Service and support like the old days? Better I'd say!
