I'm interested in one of their mid tier cans, just not sure which one. Something from the high fidelity lineup perhaps? I really dig my Msr7b, so I'd kinda like to find something with a similar sonic flavor, just a step or two up in all regards. It can be an old or new model, new or used. Most importantly, I'd prefer it to have removable a2dc connections, so I can use the aftermarket cables I already have. Prefer to keep it around 500 tops.

Hi @Mhog55,

I suggest the MSR 9, subjectively considered a more refined MSR 7 Series but dramatically better though needs good Current to perform its best & stock pads are average, suggest Yaxi Comfort Alcantara.

Hope you have a great day !

Thanks. I was thinking something more along the lines of the 1000 - 2000, etc. I'm just not sure which models have removable a2dc cables. I'm pretty happy with the Msr7b, and I've read some mixed thoughts on the sr9 - though I don't put a lot of stock into reviews. I'm looking for something more dedicated to home use. I should have mentioned that.

@Mhog55,

Got that part about home use which was part of the recommendation.

Honestly, the higher tier series for AT is more a mixed bag & unless you have a good high Current source &/or amp, not necessarily Power or Wattage, it's really no point as you will be disappointed fast, not to mention a lot of the higher tier is source synergy & track dependant.
So as far as enjoyment factor goes, it's not going to be fun in the higher tier unless you're after a more analytical, clinical sound which isn't a bad thing but it can be misleading...

SR 9 doesn't review well for various reasons as most reviewers tend to have no idea how to drive this headphone in the first place.
Actually, just a tip, all AT respond well to gear which outputs good &/or high Current.

SR 9 has A2DC removable cables.

Hope you have a great day !
