Audio-Technica ATH-W100 Loaner/Critique Program

LOL. That avatar and name go a long way though
wink.gif

Actually, the program is scheduled to end by the middle of October, so there is no additions to the waiting list at the moment. Whether or not you might get a chance to hear my W100s depend on:
a) my whim;
b) head-fiers' response; /* appease the masses and all that
biggrin.gif
*/
c) if meets are scheduled near your area after the second week of Octber, then I don't see why I wouldn't send the W100s for a listen (if so requested); and
d) if you happen to live near Palo Alto for a week.

As long as the W100s doesn't get mangled after
all that travel, I'm thinking that there should be a good chance that you might have a listen some time.

So this goes out to my peeps--all the other interested (and discouraged) head-fiers out there.

dude. note non-pornographic chick avatar.

Um, nothing personal, but I have a really hard time telling what that is a picture of. Sorry.

Besides, a lot of us have avatars that don't look nothing like us! (Mine actually does. Those are my removeable eyeballs on the legs that I set them on next to the bed while I sleep.)

EDIT: Oh, and don't think I didn't notice the computer programmer reference:

I just wanted to point out that that didn't go over all our heads.

I did use the W100 with the Melos, but the interconnects I was using at the time may have influenced what I heard. I've been rotating interconnects a LOT lately, and finding places where choice of cable has sometimes led to a misperception on my part of the component in question. This is my long-winded way of saying that even though I've heard the W100 with the Melos, I have no idea what it can really sound like

I have ten minutes Internet access starting seven minutes ago...

But first, DustyChalk:
1. My avatar is meant to be feminine without being overtly *****. If it mystifies rather than titillates...then point made.

2. C programming was definitely eating into my head-fi quality time. I mean, what gives, right?

And! A long overdue callout to all the past W100 reviewers, from Tomcat to kelly and Nick D. Their extremely well-written and substantiated reviews on the ATH-W100 headphones definitely entice the headphones enthusiast--if not to enthuse, then to instigate, waves of attention. In other words, thank you, in the most non-cheesy way possible, for making this happen.

I'm only glad that people here in the US are able to have a listen to a set of headphones that isn't readily available for auditioning.

Okay. Time's up. See ya next week.
