At 470ohms do you guys think the iFi ZEN DAC will be good enough to power these?
My iFi Hip Dac drives the R70x very well even out of the unbalanced 3.5mm, so I imagine the Zen DAC will be plenty for them.

I have a V281 incoming for audition next week and oh boy i can't wait now😊😊😊
Edit: Why you running it single ended?
I would’ve preferred a balanced cable, but it’s very good singled ended. The termination doesn’t matter as much as the cable itself in this case. The V281 is a beast of an amp and has no problem handling the R70x’s high impedance even single-ended. Maybe I’ll get it re-terminated one day, but right now there’s no rush.

This is one of the headphone I am waiting for Amazon.ca to get stock (other being HD560s).
Hopefully, the Liquid Spark can provide enough juice to power R70X to full potential.
I am somewhat afraid that the HD560s and the R70x will be too similar (both analytical).
If they are too similar maybe I should get HD560s (cheaper and easier to drive) and something totally different like Harmonicdyne Zeus instead of R70X

I find the R70x’s to be quite musical headphones. Their warmer, detailed tone prevents them from being analytical to my ears.

I have compared both before, the R70X is smoother and more natural to me than the 560S. The 560S is exactly what you would describe as analytical and a bit bright, while the R70X is definitely warmer and smoother.

Speaking of amps, the Magni 3+ pairs nicely with the R70x, it has plenty of headroom on high gain, and sounds so much better than the price would suggest.
Is the source connected to your Magni 3+ at 100% volume? I ask because I have a Magni Heresy paired with the R70x and I cannot go past 10-12 o'clock on low gain without it getting too loud for me. Maybe I just have sensitive ears.

Yes, it's at maximum. Right now I'm using a Modi 3, usually have the Magni at about 9 to 11 o'clock on high gain, to achieve a moderate to loudish volume. I believe the Modi outputs about 2V RMS, some sources are more powerful.

Just got a Feliks Echo. The R70x were made for this amp. Truly amazing synergy if you like a powerful and punchy sound. The sub bass fills out nicely on the Echo.

This is when listening to electronic music with strong drive, like synthwave, darkwave, cyberwave etc. I am using a Cambridge CXN as dac.

Hello,

i am very interested in the R70x. I ordered the 58x but it takes a long time to reach me in Europe so I‘ll maybe cancel it if the r70x is the better alternative.

- Does it work with the Smsl Sh-9?

- I don‘t have speakers. I use a headphone for gaming, watching tv and listening to music. Do do you think a lightweight like the r70x is a big advantage in comparison to the Clear?

- Is the r70x good for rock, metal and movies?

- Does a AQ Nighthawk make sense as second headphone to have an
opposite / a different sounding?

I will decide between HD58x, Nighthawk, Clear, Emu Teak and this one.
