I have purchased Beats and Atrio MG7's (earbuds) in the past, both of which have broke and never had good quality. I am currently using the Apple Ear Pods, and have to say I am enjoying them a lot. I want to get myself a nice pair of full sized headphones that are good for rock music and maybe a little hip-hop/rap. I like good bass and mids. I listen to a lot of Skillet, Red, etc.

I know Grado's are good but I need closed headphones. I'm pretty set on these m50s, just looking for second opinions.

In that price range there aren't many better options. Almost everything else may be a side grade at best to the m50s.

Do consider the:

Shure SRH840
M-Audio Q40
Beyerdynamic DT770

Which I'm sure everyone else is going to suggest as well. I know you can (usually) audition two of those three as well as the m50s at a Guitar Center if you have one locally.

Sounds good. I have a guitar center nearby, I play guitar anyway so I might stop in to audition them and pick up some strings.

What's your price range?  The Sennheiser Amperior has been discontinued and can be found for around $150.  They are really awesome for the price.  Likewise, the V-MODA M-80's were on sale at Radio Shack for around $40 a while back.  I think both would suite your needs but both are also on ear types so may not be the most comfortable.

I'd like to keep it cheap, but my limit is $200. I remember looking into the Crossfade LP2's a while back, but the M50's look like they will be better for me.

I just gave my ATH-M50 (coil cable) a listen and remember why I don't like them.  They are really sparkly and sibilant.  I just keep them out of Taiwan pride, they are made in Taiwan.

I would really check out the M-80s, you can usually find them and test listen to them at Radio Shack.  They do everything quite well.
