Audio-Technica ATH-AP2000Ti - Impressions Thread

Just got my unit, bought used. I did not have any expectations regarding this HP, and the main for aquisition was the fact that I had a nice cable left from my ADX5000 and wanted to use it (forza). Comfort is top notch, tough I would like suede pads instead of leather. Slight pressure on the ears but nothing too bad, easily top 5 most comfortable hp I have used. Suprisingly not sibilant, I disliked Arya as it caused me issues with those weird spikes, no issues with this. Somewhat dry mids, no coloring, but excellent nevertheless. Bass is tight, clear and star of the show. Soundstage is relatively small, and you definitely feel like you are listening hp:s. Imaging is top notch, I just used this for gaming and footstep directions were easier to spot than with NDH-30. Excellent detail.
In my list this surpasses these: Arya, ADX5000, HD800s, Diana v2, JM audio xtc open.
DCA Stealth is impressive hp and while I want to put this above that, I just cant.
Elite has coloured sound that just takes you in so no competition there, tough these are better for everyday listening/gaming.

8.5/10, leather pads, and slightly narrow soundstage reduce points here. I have a fellow hifiguy coming on monday to listen, interesting to see how he feels about these.

This is just a reminder to tell people that this awesome headphone still exists. I don't know why it wasn't more popular than it is but if you're looking for a really good sounding closed-back headphone the AP2000ti is one to consider. Mine are still probably my favorite headphone I've owned and I use them almost on a daily basis, after 5 years I haven't had a single problem with them and I haven't even replaced the pads yet though that time is near. If you don't mind a headphone on the brighter side (though not harsh) with plenty of detail these might be something you will enjoy, think of them as the closed-back HD800 Sennheiser should have made as far as SQ goes.
I always imagined these as the more mature adult version of the Msr7b. Still can't find one used for much less than full retail. People must be hanging onto these.

Now that I have had these longer:
Leather pads are not an issue, I can keep these on my head for a long time without sweating.
And yeah, there are more comfortable than ADX5000, that head band started hurting my head after 1h session, i fixed that with additional padding tough.
Soundstage is not an issue, as separation is excellent.
L/R markings would be nice, more than once I have put these on the wrong side.
What I would like to change regarding sound:
- Amplify the mid range
- Add sub-bass to add depth
Enough detail and sparkly highs, not bright in the fatiguing sense.

9/10 (If you buy these around 700-800e, for the full price, 8/10)

There are L & R markers on the inside portion of the hinges, but they're very hard to notice indeed :)

Man these HP:s have grown on me, just a delight.
V222 with Liberty DAC II just makes these shine. I initially thought these were a bit hollow on some vocals, but now that my ears have adjusted to these, amazing.
If someone is wondering to try these, please do. I did not feel same with DCA Stealth or Diana V2. I mean those are superior headphones to these, but lack the soul.
But like I said, it might take time, and plus I prefer audio technicas sound profile, so there is that :P

Just a heads up, the AP2000Ti is going EOL so now's kind of a last chance to consider these if on your radar :)

I always had a soft spot for those Titanium cups - pictures don't do them justice!
