The ATH-ADX3000 was just announced and shown at the Hong Kong Audio Show 2024.

There isn't much info about them yet but it is intended to be a 'little brother' to the ATH-ADX5000 and should have a MSRP 'around 100,000 yen', so around $700-$1000.

I'll be updating this thread as more info becomes available.

The AKG K812 are excellent dynamic headphones [and currently my favorites].
Did previously own, greatly enjoyed and subsequently regretted selling the ATH-ADX5000. They were supremely comfortable and had no issues at all for my ears.
Wish I had the ADX5000 on hand today to a/b with the K812.
Not sure how "close" the ADX3000 will come to the 5000, sonically; but to my ears the ADX5000 will be a [very] tough act for Audio-Technica to follow/emulate.

Yet another headphone hovering around the $1,000 MSRP. Those looking to upgrade to a headphone at or around that price point are going to have a lot to consider. I have never tried any of Auidio-Technica's mid to higher end offerings, I might have to try to demo these.

adx5000 sounds quite thin, it needs much more body and sub bass extension and volume to sound good. the question is how does the adx3000 ensure this?
I pretty much agree. If ADX3000 has nice, meaty, detailed bass, and clean, controlled, spacious treble, it will be a force to reckon with. Or, if it just sounds like a major upgrade to AD700X/900X, it would rock, too. Bass, bass, bass!!!

I'm sure that the 3000 won't have a full-bodied, meaty deep range either. They simply cannot make it better than their 5000 model. They will not set up competition for themselves.

graph-2.png

I normalized the graphs at 450Hz to really show off the differences between the ADX3000 and the ADX5000 in the 1.5-6kHz range.

While it's not a dealbreaker for me yet, that 3.75kHz peak does look like it's gonna be pretty spicy sounding!

And FYI, the ADX3000 has a nice 50 ohm impedance, so it should sound pretty good from most amps. While the ADX5000 has a 470 ohm impedance and is much more finicky about amp pairings, and therefore it's more challenging to hear it at its best.

As someone whose favorite headphone is the AP2000ti I've been looking at getting an open-back AT and this looks like it could be the one.
