Which one is better for gaming and general music?

I'd be using a Creative X-Fi Extreme soundcard.

The Sony model is $240 while the audio-technica is $190...

The Sony SA1000 is an open model, right?

A900 all the way, no contest, especially if you're not going to be using an amp. The SA1000 sounds thin and sharp, with a fairly wide but flat soundstage. If you're going to be using them for gaming, the positioning and seperation of the A900 will serve you a lot better. Also, the A900 sounds much richer and more 'musical' but suffers from a slightly recessed midrange.

never heard of the A900 but I can second the opinion on the SA1k, 1 more point to note is that vocals can sound awfulyl soft compared to the upper highs, vocals are not particularly detail as well.

I am in Richmond Hill, Canada.

Sony sells the sa100 for c$ 300 no tax. It's a no go I think.

I'll go for the audio-technica a900.

Audiocubes sent my A900s fast. Never dealt with Bluetin or Pricejapan but have read good reports on those two sites.
