I have no idea why I got these. No, I do know...they were on discount, and more importantly they have 'Audio-Technica' on them. I automatically feel the need to buy anything A-T
.
I have absolutely no use for them, and most of my friends, being the style-conscious dudes and dudettes, don't want them (but they will probably take the worse-sounding ATH-EM7's off me at the drop of a hat
).
So, one ATC-H5 seeking a good home. As far as 'on my head' time goes, it's about an hour at the most. Unboxed. No instructions (look at the webpage if you need specs). Swinging fold system unlike Eggos or 7506, plus an ingenious spring-loaded auto-adjust headband...without a spring. best described as 'iMac blue'. Clear headband with white top. Size about the same as the Eggos. Fits in exactly the same way (circumaural). I'll mail it anywhere in the UK, Europe or the States at no cost to you.
Here's what they look like.

IGN review.

The IGN review is a little over-enthusiastic. I'd say 5 or 6 out of 10 mainly because they have a closed 'honkiness' that the Eggos don't exhibit as much. They have a slightly rolled off treble but is quite sibilant...Although this could be due to lack of break-in. The bass is pretty powerful, but not over-flabby. The characteristics will probably suit low-grade sources (MP3-CD players, MDLP Minidisc, Casual MP3 use from PC soundcards). They're not quite open but aren't quite closed. The one thing in the IGN review which is very true is about the 'being secure in your masculinity'... The missus or the girlfriend might be happier with it.
Since there doesn't seem to be any etiquette for giveaways, and I feel embarrassed about setting competition quizzes for something so trivial, I'll make it fairly straightforward. I'll close this post tomorrow evening sometime. During which you can write why you want the phones. The post that makes me laugh most through great humour or sheer desperation gets it. I'll PM you for your address then and post it Monday.
