I was just making a regular round at AudioCubes when I noticed that the prices on these two headphones recently jumped up by a good margin! The AD2000 by ~$100 up to $599, and the W5000 jumped by $200 up to $899! Yowzers, too bad for anyone that wanted to buy these new. I smell a more lucrative used market on both headphones now...

Ah yes... the declining value of the dollar.

Very good for US producers and exporters... but... not so good for buyers of foreign produced goods (including Audiophiles).

Should bring a lot of new production jobs to the US very soon, to add to those (millions) that have already been brought to the US by Nissan, Toyota, Mercedes, etc., etc., etc. throughout the Southern states, which have no oppressive unions and no oppressive taxes.

Perhaps, New York, Michigan (Detroit), Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, and the rest of the "rust belt," will finally "wake up and smell the coffee" (Supply side economics). But... they're awfully "slow" up there.

It would be a good time for US modders to begin a start-up making headphones if the weak dollars continues.

Good thing I got both of those earlier this year before the price hike

I think you can still find a few US online retailers of W5000 at the old price. Newegg is sold out though.

Well, the current value of the dollar is a good thing if you live in Europe and buy stuff from the US, but it also makes it impossible to resell things to US residents without losing lots of money. An example: when I bought my K701 in Europe, I spent nearly €300. They're still in excellent condition, but the current price for a used K701 on Head-Fi is approximately $250. Even if I were to sell them for €200, that'd be nearly $300, and nobody in the US would buy them, even if the price is only right from an European's point of view. Not to mention the fact that shipping costs to the US from Europe are proportionately much higher than from the USA to Europe.

Fact is, in the US you can easily buy stuff you can't find in Europe, or you can buy it for a much lower price (*cough*Grado*cough*). There isn't that much stuff you can't find in the US, but I guess that when US people can't help buying from abroad, it must be horribly expensive.

Call it capitalistic greed, also no one could be any slower then G.Bush, and he comes from your neck of the woods.Everyone in Ohio is not slow, just most politicians.

Audiocubes was never the cheapest place to get them new anyway. The w5000 can still be had for $700 online from reputable dealers. Just gotta do your homework!
