[Technex]

Hi guys,
 
I need your help to fix my Audio Technica ATH-A900's the pads have totally worn off... And I'm not a crazy fan about these standard pads too.
 
 
I hear that these are ideal replacements:
 
 
ATH-W5000 - Leather pads
ATH-A900Ti - Clarino man made leather pads
ATH-A1000 - Clarino man made leather pads
 
 
 
The ATH-W5000 were £40 ($65) which is a bit too steep!!
No one sells A900Ti spares in the UK it seems.
The standard ATH-A900 pads are just £5 ($8).
 
Are the A1000's a good middle range one to go for?
 
 
I am mainly looking for good bass and a long life.
 
 
Are there any other options?

None of them should effect the sound really, since they don't change the way the sound is moved from driver to ear so just go with whatever you can afford and are happy with. Keep in mind leather can potentially get sweaty.

I would suggest the A1000 earpads as they're similar to the A900Ti earpads, don't cost as much as the W5000 earpads and are quite comfortable.

I'm liking the look of the A1000, does anyone know what differences there are between them at the A900Ti ones?

I've been told these are the same pads HP-A1000.
 
I am now after these pads but everywhere I try is more expensive then the W5000 pads in the UK!!!

The W5000 is a good alternative if the A1000 pads is too expensive in the UK. You might also want to consider the W1000 pads as they might be a little cheaper.

Thanks Warubozu, what worried me was a review that said the W5000 round inner ear peice was more restrictive than the oval A1000 pads

I'm not sure about your A900 pads, There's a fabric under the worn off plastic surface.
Is it more comfortable than plastic?

I've had mine for roughly two years as well, and no issues with the clarino pads yet.  I've recently discovered while modding another headphone, that I can just patch up the pads with plasti-dip if necessary.
Apart from simply buying new pads.
A2000X is extremely comfortable.

After going through two pairs of the stock A900 pads and the irritation they cause around my ears, I got these A1000 pads:

They are artificial leather but are a lot more comfortable and don't irritate nowhere as much as the stock pads. Only potential issue is that things can get a little sweaty after long periods of use, though I hardly ever find this to be a problem.
 
They fit perfectly and don't alter the sound in any way, though you will need to wear them in for a bit like with any new pads.

Could you explain more about "patch up the pads with plasti-dip" ?
