im a gamer and i play America's Army as my main game and play Call of Duty 1-4 and GRAW1-2 on my free time. i currently have Speed-Link Medusa Progamer V2 5.1 headphones, but they are starting to die. i was looking around and found the Audio-Technica A700s for a similar price as the Sennheiser HD555s. which headphones should i get? my sound card is an X-Fi Fatal1ty Xtreme Gamer.

From my standpoint, I have the Sennheiser 555s and Audio Technica A900s, I prefer the 555s more. I also play AA,CoD4 but also alot of CSS and CS:1.6. Although it has only been a week, they are much more comfortable and I can hear perfectly fine. Now, I just need to get c3.Dillon's sound tweaks for them, just to have ridiculous hearing.

The A700 are a closed can, while the 555s are open. A700s will isolate, 555s won't, but the 555 has better SQ. The AD700 is an open version of the A700. Make sure you consider that in your purchase.

Soundwise, either will perform up to your standards because you will be able to hear everything you need. I would go on IRC and talk to Cover 3 Dillon because he had to make the decision between the Sennheiser HD555s, Audio Technica A900s, and the Beyerdynamic DT770s. He chose the 555s over the 900s because of comfort.

The 555s are soo much more comfortable due to the velour pads. With the A series, you'll get really cheap pleather pads, which you should replace and they don't come cheap.

Also, take into account what carlineng said all of that is important.

The A900s are just oven like when it comes to comfort. But, I still have both headphones, so I can retain the best of both worlds.
