Forgive me if this has been raised elsewhere - I've never seen anything about it.
I have a range of 5 different iPods ATM, which all have the same 'problem'.
I have noticed than when I turn an iPod off, it doesn't seem to actually turn off in some cases. If have a paid of headphones connected to the headphone out, I can still hear a slight hiss if I turn the iPod off, then lock it. It is the same slight hiss that you can hear when the iPod is on with no music playing, and is easier (for me) to notice with IEMs.
I have played around a bit with this and also noticed that if I turn off the iPod and the almost immediately switch to the lock position, it is dead quiet with no hiss (the same as if you just turn it off without locking).
Seem (to me) to be more noticeable with full size iPods (I have a 4gen photo and a 5.5gen), but it also seems to happen with my Nano (current version).
Has anyone else noticed this with their iPod? If there is sound it must be draining the battery aswell!
