I'm looking into an audio interface for recording purposes. My question is, would they work just as well as an audiophile DAC?

I'm looking at the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which would replace my Fiio E7. Anyone know if the DAC inside is better? What about vs the Fiio E10 or E17?

TIA

I am also very interested in this question!

Why is there so little information on the dacs in audio interfaces in comparison to dedicated dacs??

I've been using the 2i2 as a DAC for the past few months (though I just sold it a few days ago). I think it makes a fine DAC. I consider the fact that it is USB powered to be a plus. Less cables/hassle. No real difference between it and the "audiophile" ~$300 Matrix Cube I used to own. I am a skeptic when it comes to big differences between electronics though. Haven't heard any of the Fiios.
