Audio-gd NFB-28

I personally like the Volex shielded and Quail unshielded 14awg power cords.  Neither will break the bank at ~$10-15 each and are flexible enough to use on nearly all gear.

I use Pangea ac14se cables on all my gear. Pretty cheap for the quality of build. More than enough for most gear. A little stiff though. Not as bad as my ps audio lab cable (just silly)

Thank you
Have you experienced any change in sound (a warmer sound etc.)?

Without going too deep... the Quail is for more tone and natural presentation, the Volex is cleaner, more analytical and you know shielded   Now that all my gear is with the PC, I only use the Volex to drain as much noise as possible.  But if it was a living room setting... Quail.

Hi guys,

I'm interested to see if anybody has done an AB testing with a NFB-27H, or at least has had experience with a NFB-28 and NFB-27H.

I'd like to know if the price difference makes up for the superior audio quality.

Thanks,

Lower background noise, more power, better extension is almost always what I hear... probably from the massive PSU.

I currently have a schiit audio lyr 2 and bifrost uber dac.

Can anyone shed some light on how big of step up is an NFB 27h or even 28, in sound quality, over my current setup?

My headphones are LCD-2 with Fazor.

Thanks

I suspect that the extra power and balanced mode from the NFB-28 will open up the soundstage a bit on the LCD-2f, which kind of needs it in general.  The DAC should be slightly brighter as well.

Since this last post I have actually opted to purchase the Master 11 which is a combination dac and headamp. It's made by Audio gd as well.

The dac section is based an r-2r chip (pcm1704uk), which apparently sounds more analog.

Essentially the Master 11 is the r-2r equivalent of the NFB-27H.

I'm waiting on the post to deliver my master 11 now. Fun times!

Will report back on my impressions. In this thread and the Master 11 thread.

Can't wait for it to be delivered.

I have the two, but nothing to compare the NFB-28 to, so that doesn't help much. It's very neutral gear.

BTW, 2016 version announced. Filter choices, DAC/pre switch on back now, auto-dim screen now controlled with a jumper, H mode gain included. Maybe some other things as well?
