Have you tried other convertor like singer su-1?

I owned the SU-6 prior to the DI-20. Firmware V4.075 on the DI-20 sounds similar to the SU-6 but I don't have the Singxer anymore to compare.

Hello All,

I have a M7S with Accusillon clocks and installed the last firmware R7tda_asy_P_rmdsd_dop1. 1.jic.
In the update guide and functions.txt I read that I have now only 1 NOS mode. Ok.
Can you kindly explain me what is the difference between NOS mode (jumper S5 only) and "class technology NOS mode" (jumpers S6 and S7)?

Best regards
Ezel

@Ezel78 OS x1 (class technology ?) is no oversampling but with the OS digital filters in place that have a steep cutoff above the Nyquist sampling rate. NOS has no steep digital filters and just relies on more shallow analog filtering. At least that is how I understand.

Since you have the M7S you may want to try other firmware versions like 'dsdclk' and even back to 'R7_tda". Seem to be more open sounding on the older platforms. No right or wrong - use what you like best.

You will get many answers for what firmware people like. But I use R7_P2_DSDCLK and even R7_tda in the older DACs. And also use DSDCLK in the R7 DAC. Why? Just think they sound better in my system on PCM tracks. Try them both!

And strictly use OS 8x on all DACs. NOS is really very good but like the detail/ clarity provided by OS 8x.

Just finished burning in a DI-20. I feel like I have a brand new dac again.

Latest firmware, I2S over HDMI, PLL off, newest digital interface, gold aftermarket cables for the M7 and DI-20. Easily 5x better than the original sound when I bought this 7 years ago.

Old user NOOB question : What is the DI-20 for? Is it a fullly -fledged DAC in its own right, or is it like a reclocker/power regenerator? I am wondering whether it could help to upgrade the sound of my Reference 5.32 w/Amanero combo.

Thanks.

DI20 is a Digital Interface designed in 2020. It receives the digital signal from USB- or the S/P DIF and processes and reclocks the signal. It can also use a very clean and exact Master clock time signal pulse to enhance the sound before it gets into the dac. The main thing with this is to get rid of jitter. Jitter is distortion in the digital domain that causes analog distortion.

The DI-20, as its name suggests, is an USB/SPDIF to I2S interface. The Reference 5.32 does not have an I2S i put so it is not possible to use the DI-20.

Thanks. I suppose the DI-20HE will be the DI-20 with a power supply, and on steroids, so to speak. Given the warnings about using higher grade DACS for the DI-20HE, I wonder whether my older Reference 5.32 with the Amanero Combo qualifies as a higher grade DAC that might benefit from it. I've sent an inquiry about this to King Wa, but I would welcome any related input from the collective wisdom of forum participants.

Okay, I see. So they might work with my Sonnet morpheus, which has an i2S input, albeit the RJ45 kind of I2S input?

DI20 have many different outputs and isn't limiting to I2S.
