Does WIndows 10 and Windows 2012 Server have the same rich Sound Mapper sampling rate/ bit depth options as Windows 8.1? Way more options than Windows 7. I use the Sound Mapper for mix down at times and want to match sampling rate/ bit depth as the original files. Otherwise Sound Mapper resamples everything to whatever you select under Playback device.

Hi DACLadder,
I dont use the Windows Sound Mapper, it's not used by JPlay / AO
JRiver, which I use, can be set at all frequencies you want, so it will not be modified when playing.
Server 2012 seems to have same options as Windows 8.
Windows 10 seems different to me, but I am not sure, have laptop only and maybe it's because of standard drivers installed,

I don’t know exactly what Windows Sound Mapper is, but in the “Sound Card Properties” you have two small boxes "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and “Give exclusive mode applications priority”. If you check them out, no up or down mix will occur for programs that you can select output from like Jriver, JPlay, Foobar 2000, Tidal, etc. Also for other steaming music cites like YouTube you can go thru Jriver, JPlay and skip the Windows mixer.

Sound Mapper is just an old term for WIndows audio. With JRiver or Foobar I used WASAPI and bypasses Windows audio so understand the check boxes. It is just when using Sound Forge tools that it uses Windows audio and subject to whatever sampling rates/ bit depth you select under playback devices. So I have to match sampling rate/ bit depth of the files I am using.in Sound Forge otherwise Windows will resample to whatever is selected. Windows 7 had a more limited selection of sampling rates/ bit depth and couldn't always match to native files I was editing.

Does anyone bypass the Dsp-1?
I use RME Madi-fx as the digital interface and use AES to connect M7.
I think if I bypass Dsp-1, I can get more detail than default setting.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 from using Windows 8.1
One thing I noticed was flash is borked with Google Play, so I was planning on downgrading back to 8.1
Based on this, I'm going to try Server 2012.
Windows Direct Sound quality is all that matters to me. I have a massive flac collection, but 90% of my listening is with Google Play. Windows SQ becomes important with this.
Convenience over form for me personally.

I think the main difference is the 'Amanero combo 384', which replaces the 'USB-32'. You may ask some one about the comparison between these two USB interface blocks.
