Hmm.. this thing is pretty intriguing. Seems to be a lot of good reviews with the HD800.

Amp, DAC and it can drive efficient speakers as well, all in one box?

Maybe I should just cancel on the Cavalli Liquid Carbon and order this bad boy.

Not a bad idea IMO.

Spent so much time waiting for the LC that I have some more money saved up now. Might as well, haha.

Right now I'm running my modest little Sony UDA-1 (DAC, headphone amp, speaker amp, all-in-one) and while it has been great, I am looking to step into end game territory after picking up a pair of HD800's recently.

I think you will be happy with the M11.

Thank you. I did some reading about 5 way speaker posts HERE So it sounds like you connect the speakers with Banana plugs. Or you can just hook the wire in the eye of the plug. Correct?

Yup, that's the idea.

Can't wait for my M11. Should be another 4-5 days...

Does anyone know why they don't have a gain switch on M11? Is it just a design limitation, or is there any specific reason for not having it?

Mostly because on the new system it was pointless.  It wasn't gain, it's a faster ramp up, i.e. skip steps on the way to 99.  Somewhat useful in the old push button faceplate, kind of pointless with a spinning knob.  That and Kingwa might have gotten tired of reading about people using low or high gain when both were the same gain :p

I have a LC coming as well that I am going to pair with a Emotiva DAC-1. Stealth DAC-1 that is!

Anyone know if the TH900 sounds good with the M11?

So I'm about to shoot off an email for a quote.

Just from the reading I have done is this thread, this is what I should get? Please advise on the +6db volume upgrade, as I'm not sure if I would need it.

  1. +6db volume upgrade (I will be running the Senn HD800 and Fostex TH900 on this amp, would these 2 headphones require the volume upgrade?). I guess it would be better to have it then not have it? Are there any disadvantages to getting it? (I won't be using IEM's with the amp)
  2. HDMI to replace RJ45 I2S (don't really need this but I guess an HDMI port would be better in the future if I ever decide to use it? Don't really see myself using the RJ45)
  3. Display Goes Dark in 7 seconds (I recall reading that you do not need this option anymore as you can customize on the M11 itself if the screen goes dark or not and how much time it takes to do so?) Correct me if I'm wrong on that!

Is there anything else that I would need or should look into?

Thanks guys!

No disadvantage having +6db, I have it and think it's great. I don't use desktop amp to power iem, only use with hd800 so far. Get it.

HDMI incase you want to use i2s output from external USB decoder, I read that other people read some where that another person know someone who probably tested HDMI vs rj45 and prefer HDMI.

7 second goes dark I believe is configurable by jumper, so if you don't want to open the box to change it request whatever you prefer right from the get go.

I need to get a balanced cable for my HD800. Does Audio-gd make any or should I look elsewhere? I will be getting the speaker taps from kingwa like someone else mentioned in this thread earlier.
