hey all

I tried doing a quick search for this but couldn't find anything recent & with success. Most content out there seems to be for hifi stuff.

I'm after an mp3 player that has a physical 5 second skip/rewind button, like conventional audiobook/podcast software (which I use regularly on my android) My ebay/amazon searches gives me the impression that no such device exists. It doesn't have to be a separate button, if it's a special encoded keypress that requires a hold down or double tap that does the quick skip/rewind that would suffice.

Reason i'm after a physical player is because I'd rather not have to whip out my phone every time i need to skip and rewind stuff, i'd rather just press a button like I used to on my old MD (but didn't listen to podcasts/audiobooks back then).

Not after any fancy dacs or amps on the thing as I couldn't care less, and such fidelity is superfluous when you have Shakespeare or Conrad churning out of the 3.5mm jack.

any ideas?

The best players still for audiobooks are ipods sadly.  No idea about the 5 second thing though.  Why not just use "rewind" or whatever it's called these days?

because a rewind on the little ipods require a button press then a scroll back.
on foobar, or on my podcast/audiobook apps on my phone it's the simple press of a button (though phone requires a screen unlock because i dont want it doing stuff in my pocket)

but you've answered my question.

I think if i get desperate enough, i'll have to arduino/rasppi it if such mini arduino mp3 players exist

On the touch, there is a 30 second toggle button if that helps.
