I picked this up at my local best buy for 79.99. Here's some shots.

Box, remote, reciever, card
Audigy4-1.jpg

chip...doesn't that "E-MU" label just turn you on?
Closeup.jpg

I've got the high res shots if anyone wants. I'm mainly curious as to the differences as compared to the 299.99 A4. Here's what I noticed so far.

some ic names...

E-MU CA10300-IAT LF
ST 4558C
CL CS4382-KQZ

And here is te real A4:

Only some ST 4558C is left from original card?

Where are
4XCS4398 (DAC)
TI/BB PCM1804 (ADC)
E-MU CA10200 ICT DSP
CS 4392 (headphone port)

This SB0610 card must be a fake when named as Audigy 4, because it don't/can't meet the technical specifications/performance Audigy 4 has been advertised/marketed.

the first one look much like Audigy2 value or such, but it's interesting to see new DSP there, (c) '03-'05.. if you look at the part number, it suggests 10k3, while the regular Audigy4 with it's sticker says like 10k2, or is it just a coincidance? definitely interesting stuff going on here.. even more so knowing they used old 10k2 from original Audigy series to build E-MU APS on.. I'd really like to know whats new there.. and also to see whats under the Audigy4 sticker.. I guess either milled off package or signs of Audigy or Audigy2, like on E-MU APS

Yup, these are definitely off (and measurements should be conducted primarily in 48 and 96 kHz, 44 kHz is more or less a resampling quality test only).

The card looks similar to an Audigy 2, that's true. It does, however, feature many more capacitors in the output stage around the opamps. It would be interesting to know how good it sounds subjectively.

I don't really have such a feeling, to me, the analog part looks identical to Audigy2.. I wonder hovewer, what's different in the digital part.. my bet is the new DSP integrates some of the smaller chips usually found surrounding 10k2.. with the upcomming X-Fi range of cards I guess their primary concern is to cut the prices of Audigy series to absolute minimum.. that speaks for the integration and maybe more advanced semiconductor process..

= concern: Can these, changed, more integrated, whole differently (from original A4) designed/materialized cards be sold in the name of Audigy 4 Pro, which is the only model you can get information about (at least at the moment (eg. do these cards equal in technical/performance specs)? I know this is quite normal with 'Creative' OEM cards (you just do not know what has been ripped), but the package just seemed so Creative made

of course it has nothing in common with the 'real' Audigy4 apart from being a SoundBlaster

I'd call it latest revision of Audigy2, but they can call it whatever they want of course..

Thanks, I know the EAX/CMSS 3D stuff was off, but monitoring with recording not so sure. I'll read over those files. Thanks. In the meantime, here's some new results for a different sound card I found at best buy today.

X-Fi xtreme music
Anybody wanna let me know why the dyn range is all screwy on the x-fi card?

Aha...I see. Thanks, I'll keep that info in mind for future. As far as the A4 nonpro/vanilla/whateveryouwannacallit, I still preferred my revo 5.1.

Thanks jiitee. From A2value-->hacked A4-->xfi in under a month has been a bit...yeah, just a touch confusing.

Kinda funny how this works now. First nv gives us hardware with announcement "7800." Then sb introduces product before announcement "A4 single dac." Now we get xfi before the release date. Good times...

C'mon Sennheiser velour/closed/lanproof gaming cans!!!
