Sony Maxwell Z1R Wireless is what we need then,
Audeze is part of SIE (Sony Interactive Entertaintment) the Playstation brand, not Sony Electronics which make the Z1R. That's a whole other branch of Sony. Little to no overlap between the two.

Thanks for that context. It is to a corporation’s - and their customers’ - detriment when artificial organizational boundaries limit the possibilities. But it is what it is.

Do you have any insight you could share for the future of the Maxwell? It is such a great headphone and has such great promise as a platform that it would be a shame if it withered and died on the vine.

OK, so - they've had a year when they didn't release a new product.

...But they did -announce- a new product. They've massively expanded their infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities, and there are rumblings of a new flagship beyond CRBN2.
The speculative use of words like 'dead' and 'died' in recent posts seem more than a little bit hyperbolic to me, particularly in the context of a thread for a product that in terms of reach has distribution into major retailers, is their most successful ever and is barely two years old. But I suppose people express their desires in different ways.

I've got plenty of faith that Audeze are moving from strength to strength, and personally appreciate that they'd rather wait until there's something genuinely worth bringing to market for its innovation or speciality, rather than continuously dump variant after variant of the same underlying tech and rely on new product hype to keep them moving.

Just in case, if you are referring to my use of the word "died" I'd call your attention to the full sentence in which I used that word: "It is such a great headphone and has such great promise as a platform that it would be a shame if it withered and died on the vine." The word "if" in that sentence is doing a lot of work to set the context. Meaning, there was no speculation that it had died, but that it would be a shame IF it had.

Hello, audio friends! Greetings from Brazil.

I am really, really new to the audiophile world and to the forum too, so please be patient haha.

I've bought an PS version of Audeze Maxwell, because I had understood that the only difference between PS and XBOX versions was on the Dolby Licence, that I already have, and not the compatibility.
The idea is to use it on my Xbox Series X....but unfortunately it just doenst work on USB or dongle, the only way it works is by the 3.5mm cable on the controller.

This is not "ideal", but I have no problem using the cable, the real problem is that the sound is REALLY poor and volume is really low, if compared to the use on a PC by dongle or other device by BT.

Please, I need your help to solve it. What could I do for it to work well, with good sound quality and volume, on my Xbox?

I saw somebody saying it has an onboard amplifier, but it seems to not work via the 3.5 cable...is there any way to "activate" it?
Other solution would be using an amplifier? If so, how do I know if a specific amp is compatible with it? I was recimended and was looking into Fiio A1 and A3, but really have no idea even if it works of if they are compatible in terms of "potency".

I know that using it over the original power/potency could damage it, but this is not the case, as the original max sound is already too loud to me. Trust me, the volume on the Xbox controller is really low! Amplify it to around 90% the original max volume would be pretty enough.

I would really appreciate the help from someone who understands about it. Thanks in advance.

Hello!

I understand the best solution would be to return it and change for the Xbox version.

However, I live in Brazil, and bought it on B&H website while one a trip in Miami last year, so I dont think that would be an option. Also, I do not have the original box anymore.

The headphones are pretty new, I almost didnt use it. I already listed it on some marketplace for sale here, at the same price I bought it, but it is really expensive for people here, so I dont think I will get to sell it, that's why I am starting to consider the posibility to keep it and find a way to make it work.

Please correct me if I'm wrong...the amp will damage it only if it is used too loud, no?

It's going to be taking any incoming signal from the 3.5 and converting it to digital, which passes through its internal DSP before changing it back to analogue to feed the drivers.
Maybe you could at first try seeing if you get a decent level signal if you or a friend has a phone with a 3.5 out, or a basic dongle adapter. Always start from zero on the source and then nudge your way up.

It should be fine with a low enough level signal. I think what people are warning you about is expecting you can use a high power portable or desktop amp, which would probably be a bad idea as you could fry the internal ADC.

Proceed with caution, basically.

Audeze may be able to help! Honestly, I would start there. It could be that you could trade dongles and update some firmware or something and if that's the case, the shipping back and forth on those should be minimal. I don't know if it's just the dongle or BOTH the dongle and headset that are to HARDware specification.
It's probably the latter unfortunately, but worth an ask.

Hi Richy,

Thanks for your help.

I have just wrote to Audeze today earlier and was asked for the serial number a few more data, including receipt of the order.

I sent them everything, lets see what will be their answer.

Regarding the DAC/AMP, if I understood well, it has a internal DAC already, so it would not be necessary, right? I would need only an AMP. So my question is, would an FIIO A1 or A3 be "potent" enough? Or maybe, too much potent? Do you have any other amp recomendation? I was also looking into a Neoteck AMP, for the cheap cost.

Thank you!
