Not a great photo, just a cellular shot under not optimal lightning conditions: the LCDi4 with EA's new Horus cable.

I listened to the Horus on Empire Ears' Zeus and liked the combo. How are the ergonomics with the LCDi4?

Just about perfect. The cable is very supple and there's no problem with the weight. Of course I ordered it without the usual memory wire section at the earphone's end, which is useless given that the LCDi4 isn't worn over the ear.

i4 + Horus: Holy Cow!!!

I like it, let us know how the combo sounds.

:ksc75smile::ksc75smile::ksc75smile:

The cable just had around 10 hours of music flowing through so far, it's a bit soon to make final statements, but it's already striking how rich and at the same time transparent and hyperdetailed it sounds. Music just flows into it, and it ends on the LCDi4 as something I wouldn't have believed would ever have been possible in a portable setup until now.

Great, it seams to be the perfect cable for an amazing earphone. it's hardly to imagine a cable that can improve the already great performance of the i4

Hi everyone,
As promised previously, I’m posting some quick pictures from the Audeze i4 + iBasso DX200 & Amp3 + Beat Audio Billow gold/silver/copper alloy cable.
So after the Horus poste from Fafner, I guess you’re in for a treat with some more cable porn thingy!
You’ll notice that my i4 already suffered few scratches, especially on the “A” logo. That’s mainly due to the fact that they stick to each other with the power of the magnets from those monsters. I also used them every single day since a good while now (over 2 month maybe) in the streets, subway, office, home, taxi and everywhere they and I can go. I also never put them in the case. They are weather on my ears or on a desk/table.
Then you’ll also see that the Billow cables’ connectors are on the wrong side, meaning that the “R” and “L” inscriptions are facing outward while the “Beat Audio” one inside. I believe that the connectors on the i4 are on the opposite way than most iems?! If I’m wrong, please correct me. Stephen from Beat Audio offered me to change the cable for one that would show the inscriptions correctly on the i4, but it doesn’t bother me much and once in my hands I enjoyed it so much that I didn’t want to bother send it back. :L3000:
Stephen is a great guy btw! If you are to purchase their products, I greatly advise you to deal with him. He’s really helpful and responsive!
By the pictures, you’ll see that the Billow + i4 combo is really pleasing to the eye (to me at least). It actually feels more appropriate than the stock cable color wise. And if gold color is your thing, I guess with the Sony 1Z or the future DX200 gold plated edition, you’ve got some serious opportunity to look like the real pimp! Haha. :D
Anyway, for those who wonder how does this pairing sounds, well... in one word I’d say MAJESTIC!
Just can’t believe portable gears could sound so great. To me that is the best truely portable pairing that I tried so far. It ticks all the boxes for me. The only little down side would be the isolation of the i4 in some situations, but most of the time I find it to a pro much more often than a con. That’s a pro while walking in the street, riding bicycle, at work,... that’s a con while in the subway, bus or plane, but most universal iems are only barely improving on that matter anyways, and I’m not necessarily searching for the ultimate listening experience in those circumstances...
What else needs to be said... well... apart from the fact that I’m having a grinning face every time I’m listening to music and that my AK T8ie II are in fulltime retirement since then,... I guess not much, :D
Oh, yes! Maybe one more thing! I’d just be really interested to see what the Hugo 2 and WA-8 would bring on the table! Does anyone tried both and could give some thoughts about the differences (with the i4 I mean)? Would it bring substantial improvements over the DX200 & Amp3?
Thanks!
Cheers.

Edit : I’d also be interested in hearing some insights about the difference between Billow and Horus with i4. Horus also seems like a great cable indeed.

Nice combo, the cable match perfectly the gold details of the i4.

I tried the i4 with the Hugo2 and for me it's the best combination (compared to the LPG or the WM1Z), the Hugo has more juice than any dap and it really makes a different, on the other side it's not easy to carry.

Thanks for sharing this. How big is the difference between the 3 sources you mention? Btw, when you use Hugo 2, are you engaging EQ or DSP?

Is there anyway the upcoming VST/AU plugins can be used via the Hugo2 without a computer? That is, is there any way to use the plugins with a dap, or preferably, my iPhone. Also, to make things more difficult, I'd like to stream Tidal.

Right now I'm using Roon with the i4 preset on my laptop to the Hugo2. They sound fantastic.

Audeze does it differently. It is the same with my Horus: “R” and “L” inscriptions are facing outward while the EA logo is facing inward, exactly the opposite of what EA tells to do. But the grooves in the 2 pin connectors are at the opposite side on Audeze's IEMs.

When u used the i4 with both the LPG and the WM1Z even if the volume was ok, it felt something was missing, the sound was not full.

with the Hugo2 power is there and the sound is clear, full of details and nice wide sound stage. what I like using the h2 are the details and the level of resolution the combo can provide.

I also used once the wm1z to drive the Cavalli Liquid carbon, with this combination, the sound is warmer, full body, very pleasant to listen too.

I totally agree with you. Lcd i4 is a different machine with HUGO 2. I have AK KANN...with unbalanced output & high gain also the lcd i4 sound quite inferior to HUGO 2....I am curious about the balanced output on A&K SP 1000... @Fafner ...

Good to know, I was actually considering a used Kann for a traveling companion of the i4.

Did you try to use the balance output too, on paper the Kann is extremely powerful compared to any dap?
