Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

Looking for an upgrade cable in particular Plussoundaudio X Series

Am I right assuming regular 0.78mm two pin is the right choice? (if it's the case I can try my old S-EM9 silver dragon with 2.5 balanced...)

Since the native cable seems to have a specific plug to avoid inverting polarity, I wonder...

Edit : I missed the compatibility list... looks like I'll be ok with this, a bit contradictory as it indicates recessed sockets are excluded and the socket does look recessed to me... then again 2 pin is not my forte I mainly had MMCX connectors on my gear...

Here are the 2 pin specifications for LCDi4 by Audeze .

Thanks a lot for this, I have contacted them as the list I captured clearly puts their Audeze iSine and i4 cables in the 0.78 category... maybe a mistake in the listing since your link says 0.75
We'll see!

Edit : They replied that "The connectors we use and confirmed that work property are the 2-pin/0.78mm version. These have the grooves they mention and they fit tightly." I leave it to the specialists !

I have tried the i4 with Mojo and that's a very smooth combo, less detailed and airy than DX200/amp2 but better bass impact and depth are the first two things I notice. It will be interesting playing with sources with the LCD i4, I understand what I have read now :)

Just received my cipher cable from Audeze and found them sounding great out from my ipad. Hope they make an Android version sometime soon as I actually use an Android phone.
Also a big thank you to Audeze for sending the cable to me directly after knowing that I was getting no response from the local distributor and retailer.

Good to know I gather from reading the thread that there is a v2 version of the cable, that can drive the i4?
Is there a big difference of current between iPad => Cipher = > i4 and Iphone => Cipher => i4 ? I guess yes...

The version I have is for the i4 and I find that the iPad drives them quite well. Unfortunately I'm unable to tell you about the difference between driving them through an iPad and an iPhone as I've switched over to the other side.

They would/should sound the same as all the DSP and power is coming from the Cypher cable’s tiny little DAC/amp. The devices are just feeding the digital data to the cable.

Got it thanks for clarifying :)

While I am here... listening to The Relatives "Rational Culture / Testimony", the bass is out of this world good :D

Edit : I noticed a humming when I put my hands on the headphones (adjusting fit) while plugged to the amp or dap, electromagnetic interferences ? Same, when both earphones are near each other there is a magnet effect, it must be really powerful! (can this damage the earphones?)

Also, I am going to try other tips the ones provided are fatiguing... I have read SpinFit CP100 do fit but I wonder about how tight a constraint on the nozzle. I have Comply T-600 ordered in the meantime

I think it's the CP-155 you're looking for.

Oh yeah! Thanks a lot for this I looked it up and an earphonia article came up, not in my initial search though... kudos

Edit : Looks like it's going to be challenging to find in Europe, Amazon.com doesn't ship to France and Jaben returns no results for SpinFit CP155 :frowning2:

I am struck at how spoiled I am now that I have spent some quality time with the i4, other gear sound well... much worse than they did in my memory that's how big of a gap there is to anything I have heard... Some people find the price of these totally crazy and they're right, but the sound coming out of these is totally crazy as well :D

I recently got the LCDi4.....and the bass is something else, and love it more than the Shure SE846 and that was already amazing.

Indeed, although it's been a while the sub bass was great on the SE846, but it was nowhere near the texture and speed you get with the i4...

Listening to Christine and the Queens "Paradis Perdus", the bass and especially sub bass are simply out of this world great

With the i4 I feel like the first time I tasted a 21 years Hibiki, it blew my mind that a whisky could be so full of flavors and complexity, yeah the 12 years Macallan is great but not mind blowingly good...

So, I'm very lucky to have Amazon same day delivery. While researching your post--to make sure it was CP-155, I looked them up on Amazon and ordered a set of medium and a set of small. I just got them and started listening.

What they do for treble is amazing. I used to think I needed complete silence for these to sound completely coherent, but with these everything just clicked. I think it's a fit issue. The small groovy tips were too small for my ears and the larges gave me bass, but didn't sound quite right. I ended up with the mediums which sounded very good, but I often fidgeted with them, especially my left ear. With these spinfits, I feel I have a good fit and they sound really good. The medium spinfits are smaller than the medium groovy. I think they're slightly bigger than the small groovy tips, but they give me a good seal. So I've ended up with a deeper insertion but I have a seal which is needed for bass.

I've only listened to a couple of songs, but my initial impressions are very good. Here, on my 3rd song, I can say that the midbass-to-midrange transition is somewhat different, and I haven't decided if that's a good thing or not. The deeper insertion might be changing bass a bit. We'll see.

Sorry this post is sort of stream-of-conciousness

That's great to know @Gowry thanks for sharing!

But that's damn frustrating to be unable to get them... I'll ask a friend in the US if he can get these forwarded to me...

Listening to "Bubbles" by Yoshi Horikawa is a mind blowing experience with the i4... now listening to the Bourbon Street Stompers "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" I feel like the band is at the office with me for a private concert... worth every penny!

Tove Styrke High and Low is impressive too, that bass combined with the crazy speed of the driver... oh my

Right now I use smallest stock tips (non groovy) that come with the LCDi4. Would you recommend the medium or small CP-155 tips?

The stock tips seem to be between the cp155 small and medium, so it depends on whether you want something a little bigger or a little smaller.
