I do not think the hugo 2 will drive the lcd-4 to potential....it certainly is usable but if you are going to use the hugo 2 along then the 4z is the better choice IMHO....the dave is capable of driving the lcd-4

That's why I'm saying the Hugo 2 needs some upgrade on the power lines and USB cables. I used to have a Bakoon amp but it eventually gave a slower sound than plugging the lcd4 straight on the Hugo 2.

With standard cable and such, yes the LCD 4 + Hugo 2 sounds mediorce.

Just received my brand new LCD4 yesterday. All I can say is OMG. In the next week I will be deciding on a new DAC to get the best synergy with the LCD4 and a Wells Audio Milo. I will have about $2500 to spend. I will be going to the RMAF next week to check out the candidates. Any recommendations? Thanks

The LCD-4 underrated? Not really. A few of the famoust audio journals in Germany and Europe have highly praised them. This headphone turns the blood of every audiophile to ice.
It´s just a expensive headphone, especially here in Europe.

I really like my Schiit Yggy analog 2. Use it with a Woo WA5 and a HeadAmp GSX mk2. The Yggy is pretty neutral so your amp and headphones can be selected according to preference.

I know, I`ve heard them. They are impressive but the price difference here in Germany from Empyrean (3000€) to LCD4 is 2000€. In my opinion that`s too much. There are slight differences in sound quality but not that much. For me personally it`s hard to justify the price difference.

Price certainly plays a part. I bought and returned the Empyrean. Nice headphones but nothing special for me. I prefer my LCD4 and Abyss tc. But I know others who really like the Meze. Very personal hobby. We have different preferences and hearing.

Congrats! I don’t know about your LCD-4 but if they are anything like my lcd-4z that arrived two weeks ago wait until they have run in a bit, absolutely stunning!

Yes, you have a nice collection of headphones. In the past I was rather a speaker guy and more into Hifi. Headphones were for me more a replacement. But a few years ago I heard about LCD2 and they sounded great, just totally different than anything else i heard before. Audeze was one of the brands, which caught my eye to headphones. I`ll buy a highend headphone, but i`m a difficult buyer. The competition now is bigger, but LCD4/4z or maybe 24 is on my list.

Da Funk by Daft Punk, the bass in this song is so powerful on the LCD4 yet so clean and controlled.
It amazes me every time I listen how it can possibly do this without self destructing.
