I agree, I'll be silently waiting for a price drop to seriously consider it. $3000 would be about right with me too since the HE1000 is the same price. Otherwise I'm fine with my LCD-3s still.

Man...as much as I'd love a price drop.....I just think it's so unlikely as it's going to be a direct slap in the face to anyone that's already bought into it.  IMO the way it's presented, it's priced more or less accurately as it's a clear step forward form LCD-3 from the feedbacks....it's just truly diminishing returns when you're at this level in the game.....it can only get that much better.  On the bright side, the wallet won't hurt as bad as soon as I sell off my LCD-x and LCD-xc hah.

You don't want to buy electronics on Black Friday they tend to be low-end crappola to get you in the door. 
Just check ebay from time to time.  That's how I got my near-mint Aurium and K812 for almost 50% off.

So I'm piecing together my rig right now... Currently have an Oyaide D+ USB cable running from my PC > Mytek DSD Dac > Cerious Liquid Ceramic XLR Interconnects > RSA Dark Star. Only thing I'm missing is a pair of cans to go with the gear.

Can anyone chime in on whether they think its worth skipping out on the Abyss AB 1266 in favor or the LCD 4s or just run with the tried and true?

The best solution would be to listen to both of them and make a decision based on what you prefer.

+1 Well said. If the LCD-4 were $3000 I might really consider purchasing them. But I will just sit on my money and see what shows up on the market.

Thanks - found them on the Audeze dealer list under Audio Prana, LLC.  Same address as Stereo Desk - missed that the first look.
 
Time to see if my local vendor will match.....
