Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread

Thanks Marcan. My amp has a good balanced output, I already use it with my HD6XX and it’s really better... and more powerful. It can be the best solution for me.

An other option can be a Schiit Modi Heresy or 3+, it’s cheaper than a balanced cable and more powerful than my headphone amp...

I've been running my LCD-2C's balanced for over a year and the added power from balanced is definitely welcomed. Your replacement cable looks well built and will sound the same as Audeze's stock cable.

Running the LCD-2C really made a big difference for me though. The extra power from running balanced was really what the LCD-2C needed.

For those wanting to try my EQ. You're welcome to do so. Feedback is welcome.

Its bass heavy with a small bump to vocals to push them a little more fwd akin to the Sennheisers 600 series.

And treble so I can heard snares clicks and claps etc.

This is set rui be copy n pasted into windows

I have the Sendy’s which are equally impressive in their own regard (as you’ve stated). The LCD2C offers a similar listening experience (with a wider soundstage). I also prefer the roomier cups & plush pads. This HP has an industrial build yet surprisingly light (compared to the older styled Audeze’s that I’ve worn).

Update: I’ve lived with these for a month or so. They’ve earned my ears respect for top honors. It’s these...for planars and ZMF Aeolus for dynamics.

Buy a balanced cable from Impact Audio Cables (87$ for 7 ft), really great!

The cable is light, well-finished, and allows me to enjoy the power of my Pioneer U-05 (which was a bit short on the classic SE). I won't get into the sound of cables or other, for me it's of little interest: I just have a cable at the desired length, adapted to my needs for half the price of the stock cable... and no THX 789 to buy!

I've been listening to all my headphones on low gain from my SMSL SP200 amp so I wanted to hear if high gain made a difference and I feel like it did. To me the 2C sounds a bit more open with better imaging and separation, while the highs have a touch more sparkle and the bass is more dynamic and punchy. Really all my planar headphones sound better on high gain, it just goes to show how much they love more power.

If it's just a placebo effect it's a darn good one.

I'm looking at buying a new headphone soon. My options are the Audeze LCD-2C or Focal Elex, but I'm having a hard time deciding. Any recommendations?
I would pick the 2C any day, but that is just me. Elex is punchier and more aggressive but thinner. 2C is more laid back and smooth. 2C bass is the best I have heard under £1000.
A lot depends on your music preference and the dac/amp you use. These two headphones sound quite different. (Dynamic vs planar.)

LCD4, Empyrean, Abyss have better bass than the 2C.
But the 2C when it comes to bass only, beats a lot of headphones even between 1K and 2K. Where most 1K+ headphone gets better is openness, airiness and detail, but not bass.

Thank you. I have the monolith desktop dac/amp with thx for home use and a Fiio M11 pro and Little B4x tube amp for on the go. The headphones I'm currenly using are my Monolith M570 and HD650s. I'm just looking to upgrade. I think I'm going to go with the 2C.
